Amber & Steven wanted a relaxed and casual engagement session and chose the Hope Outdoor Gallery for the location. It was a perfect fit! This place goes by many names (Baylor Street Art Wall, Castle Hill, The Art Wall, etc.) and is the site of an abandoned construction project from the 1980’s. It’s only officially been a graffiti park for 6 years, but in that time it’s become very popular, and even a tourist attraction, in Austin. Calling it “graffiti”, though, does not even seem accurate – it’s art! The walls are constantly being painted over, often times by amazing artists.
These colorful walls made beautiful backdrops for Amber & Steven to show off their engaged selves (and her unique rose gold ring)! With no direction at all, Amber looked at Steven with the best smile, and I knew my job would be easy from there.
I actually worked with Steven’s sister Emily at The Daily Toreador newspaper in Lubbock for several years, and she was nice enough to point them my way when they got engaged, and I’m happy she did! I can’t wait for their wedding next July!
