Downtown Austin Courthouse Wedding | Hyeyeon & Jin

5/30/25

I have several fun courthouse weddings to show you! I just finished editing Hyeyeon & Jin’s wedding from last week, and I can’t wait. It’s going on the blog… now!

They were married at the Heman Marion Sweatt Travis County Courthouse Precinct 5 in Downtown Austin. I love this courthouse because of the beautiful architecture, great location, and the historic courtrooms. Hyeyeon & Jin’s ceremony was held in the same room where the 1950 case of Sweatt v. Painter was heard. This case ended “separate but equal” racial segregation in Texas.

This room also overlooks the hill country and is such a peaceful and comfortable space. I’m constantly telling people that courthouse weddings don’t feel like getting married at the DMV at all. It can actually be a great experience!

Hyeyeon & Jin were surrounded by their families during their ceremony, and we took lots of family photos outside the courthouse before driving to Auditorium Shores (Vic Mathias Shores) for more photos. This park has one of the best views of the downtown Skyline.

You can’t tell in their photos, but it was HOT. Like peak summer temperatures, even though it’s only mid May. They were all such troopers 👏

At the end, Hyeyeon & Jin changed into casual clothes, and we took more photos around the park. I loved this idea!
