I’m excited to share something a little different on the blog today — a surprise proposal! Abraham, a mutual friend our friends Michal and Darwin (whose proposal you can see here!), reached out to me a few weeks ago to tell me that he planned on proposing to his girlfriend Angelia. I asked for a few more details on how he wanted to propose, and his whole plan blew me away!
Proposals are always a little nerve-wracking. There’s a lot of moving parts that need to fall into place, requiring careful planning, organization and timing. And Abraham’s plan was both elaborate and perfectly executed!
He told me that Angelia’s brother and sister-in-law would be in town visiting from Washington D.C., and he had told Angelia that for their monthly date-day (a tradition of theirs), the four of them would travel to Gruene, Texas for a day exploring the town. In the afternoon, Abraham and Angelia would part ways with her brother and visit a local winery. Then, they would check out some shops in downtown Gruene, and — here it comes — stumble across a guitar player performing in front of a local shop. In the storefront’s garden, lit with tree-strung lights at sunset, they would dance as the guitar player would play her favorite George Straight song “The Chair”. At the end of the song, he would get down on one knee, propose, and then enjoy some champagne together on the front porch. And just when she would think the surprise was over, they would walk down the road to have dinner with her brother and sister-in-law to be surprised by a huge group of friends and family waiting to celebrate with them!
And…that’s exactly how it happened! Everything was perfect. From the beautiful and eclectic storefront of Simply Detailed, to the smooth country voice of Brandon Michael, it all went exactly as planned!
Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
