What a fun proposal!
Mark contacted me a few weeks ago to tell me that he was planning to visit Austin with his girlfriend Carolyn, and he wanted to propose while in town! He found pictures online of McKinney Falls State Park and knew that’s where he wanted to do it!
I love McKinney Falls and am super familiar with the park having just taken engagement photos there recently with two couples (Carsyn & Luke and Marcie & Patrick).
On the day of the proposal, rain had been drizzling all day. We decided to stick with the plan, and it stopped raining long enough for Mark to propose on top of a rocky waterfall. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal, the rain meant that they had the entire park to themselves, which never happens at McKinney Falls!
After the proposal, I told Carolyn goodbye, but then sped away to meet them at Perry’s Steakhouse downtown. She was very surprised to see me again, and we took a few night portraits on Congress Ave. before they went to dinner.
Carolyn & Mark – It was amazing to meet you and witness your proposal! Congratulations!
Because of the rainy weather and a few obstacles Mark had getting to the park, we ended up taking their photos during a darker time of the day than I usually suggest. But I’m super happy with the way their photos turned out, and I’m proud of the natural looking flash lighting I created!
