This year, weddings have been different in every way. Couples have experienced the lowest lows and the highest highs.

Years from now, when I reflect on photographing weddings in 2020, I’ll think of Emma & Matthew. They were faced with more challenges than most and were devastated when Emma’s family wasn’t able to travel from New York to attend their wedding.

Despite all of the difficulties they faced, Emma & Matthew surprised no one by staying connected and making tough choices together, all while remaining focussed on what was most important. It’s so clear that they’re best friends and true partners. Because of that, their wedding was small, but awesome. It was seriously awesome to witness this power couple get married! 🥺

Their ceremony was at sunset in the backyard of Matthew’s parents’ ranch house. Emma walked herself down the aisle, as her dad (wearing a suit and tie) watched from across the country via a live video stream. It was emotional, and their heartfelt vows had everyone tearing up.

After they said “I do”, you could feel the weight lift from their shoulders. They were finally husband & wife! Now it was time to party, hear some equally touching and hilarious toasts, and dance under the stars on a chilly November night.

Every person there (both physically and virtually) was incredibly important to Emma & Matthew. Each person played a role in making their wedding happen. Their florals were gorgeous, Matthew’s mom made several delicious cakes, and they were surrounded by the most fun and supportive wedding party.
