5 years ago, it was Ben’s impressive beard that made Susan send him a message on Bumble. She had recently downloaded Bumble, and he was the first person she met from the app. It was one and done for her!
Ben proposed by recreating their second date, taking Susan to Mayfield Park and Mount Bonnell. If you’ve been to Mayfield, you know that peacocks roam the park. They decided to give their wedding a peacock theme, with feathers in Ben’s boutonnière. They also asked guests to wear blue and green colors, which looked awesome with the fall colors of their outdoor wedding. 🦚
Susan & Ben live in downtown New Braunfels, and Landa Park is one of their favorite places in town. The park’s historic gazebo was the perfect place for their ceremony.
They have a blended family, with two daughters each, and the girls were really involved in the wedding. They acted as their officiant, maid of honor, flower girl, and ring bearer! Their Belgian Malinois also walked down the aisle and stood beside them during the ceremony. 😊
Their reception was held at their home, mainly in their newly renovated kitchen. And when I say “newly”, I mean that construction finished days (or hours?) before the wedding! Susan & Ben said the kitchen was honestly more stressful than planning their wedding!
Their guests gathered around a delicious charcuterie spread indoors and outdoors around a fire pit in their beautiful backyard.
I looooove simple and authentic weddings like Susan & Ben’s. What a perfect celebration!
