With wedding photography, I mostly communicate with and plan with the bride, but with proposals, it’s all about the future-groom and his unique ideas. It’s one of my favorite parts about photographing proposals (there are many!), and it’s a refreshing change to work with guys to plan the event that kicks off the wedding planning to begin with!
Ana & Jose met in college 8 years ago, and as of yesterday, they’re engaged! Ana had always wanted the two of them to take a dance class, so Jose decided to schedule a class at Dance With Me at The Domain. She thought it was just a special date night on a Wednesday, but she was wrong. It was so much more!
When their private dance lesson was almost finished, the song “Casate Conmigo” – which translated to English is “Marry Me” – started playing over the studio’s speakers. As they danced, it didn’t take her long to recognize the song, and he dropped down to one knee!
I jumped up from my very secretive hiding spot (where I had been sitting for 20 minutes about 10 feet away, posing as someone watching another couple dancing at the studio).
With the music, dancing, and colorful lights, they continued dancing, because it was the perfect place to celebrate.
Congratulations, Ana & Jose!
Oh, and during the proposal, I found out that Ana’s cousin Roger also recently got engaged…and guess who photographed their proposal? Me! I had no idea Ana & Jose knew Maria & Roger!
