Not only was Michael’s proposal to his girlfriend Lindsey incredibly personal and creative, but THIS WAS THEIR FIRST REAL DATE. You read that correctly. Michael & Lindsey started dating right around when Covid started, so they had never been on a real date outside of their own home.
Their relationship moved quickly (it turns out that quarantining together can help you get to know each other really fast) and Michael couldn’t wait to ask her to marry him. Here’s how it went down…
Lindsey’s favorite local artist is Lauren Briére, who is known for her series called Robots in Rowboats. Her paintings are exactly what you’d think – robots riding in rowboats and doing lots of other water and nature related activities. It’s amazing, and Lindsey is obsessed with Lauren’s work. Knowing this, Michael reached out to her asking if she would commission a piece of art just for Lindsey. The painting is gorgeous and shows a robot holding an engagement ring. Step One complete. ✔️
Next, Michael asked Austin Art Garage if they could book the shop for a private viewing. They were excited to help him out! ✔️ Then he invited Lindsey on a date to browse their art, which doubles as an art museum. (If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend checking it out!)
As they walked through the stop, Lindsey quickly noticed a Robots in Rowboats piece on the wall, and once she saw the engagement ring, she looked at Michael, completely surprised. He told her that the painting was made just for her, and he dropped to one knee.
Ahhhh I loved this proposal. 🥰 Congratulations, you two!
