Micro Wedding at Josephine House | Chanel & Jonathan

I wish we could show these photos to 7th grade friends Chanel & Jonathan. Their micro wedding at Josephine House would probably blow their minds. 🤯

The Jelinek wedding! THIS is exactly why I loooooove small weddings. Nothing about Chanel & Jonathan’s wedding was boring, stock, or overly traditional. They made their wedding day completely their own. They knew what parts to customize and when to let go of the reins, letting their vendors take over. It was simply an awesome celebration of THEM. 🥳

We started the day on the University of Texas campus. Chanel went to UT, and this was when their relationship really took off. Jonathan also proposed at Littlefield Fountain, so the campus is a meaningful place to them.

I showed them my favorite quiet courtyard, and it was the perfect spot for their first look! Jonathan’s reaction to seeing Chanel for the first time in her dress was SO GOOD. First, he was speechless. Then, he started saying something like “Wow, you look good!” over and over again. And man, she really looked amazing. I’m obsessed with the detail on the top of her dress and all of the flowy layers on the bottom. 😍

While standing in this gorgeous courtyard, they read private vows to each other before heading to Josephine House for the rest of the day.

Josephine House is the coolest and cutest restaurant/venue in the Clarksville neighborhood of Austin. Their ceremony space was placed between two buildings, with string lights and hanging fabric above. This spot was later transformed into a lounge area, then a dining space, and then a dance floor. 👏

One of my favorite parts of the day was totally spontaneous. After the ceremony, Chanel & Jonathan walked up the aisle for the recession, paused for a minute, and then walked right down again to prepare for family photos in the same spot they had just left. As they walked down, they got a chance to hug their guests, high-five friends, and see everyone together for the first time. Simple moments like this really stand out as special to me. This type of impromptu, meaningful time with your guests (just moments after getting married) can only happen at small, intimate weddings.

What an incredible day! Almost all of their guests travelled from outside of Texas (many from Canada), and their wedding was a perfect representation of Austin, and more importantly, of Chanel & Jonathan’s love for each other.
