Austin & Tatum met in a very unusual, but highly-effective way! In college, they were both in an organization called YoungLife. When the group road-tripped to Georgia for an event, Austin & Tatum piled into a van full of people they didn’t know. They sat next to each other, and for the next 15 hours, there was nothing to do but get to know each other!
Pause for sec… Why hasn’t this idea been made into a reality dating show?? “15 Hours Across America: Love On The Open Road.” (ok, maybe I’ll work on a better title)
Several years later, Austin was ready to ask Tatum to be is wife! Here’s how it went down…
Austin’s mom actually works for Villa Antonia, an incredible venue in the hill country. It’s common for photographers to plan styled photo sessions at the venue, and Tatum has modeled for similar shoots in the past. So, when Austin told Tatum that his mom was looking for a last minute model, she totally bought it!
Austin & Tatum arrived at the venue, I introduced myself as the photographer/director of the styled shoot, and we started taking photos! After a few minutes, I led them to an area that was decorated for THEM! Tatum was shocked and immediately realized that Austin was about to propose. He took her hand, led her to the perfect spot, and dropped to his knee.
And this wasn’t the only surprise. 😉 Afterward, he led her to the main building to find the entire balcony FULL of their friends and family. They had quietly snuck onto the balcony while he proposed. Tatum was speechless!
It was such a fun surprise party, and an amazing way to start their engagement! Congratulations, Austin & Tatum!
