We had the whole lake to ourselves as we watched the sun rise over the mountains. ✨ The trees surrounding Lake Crescent were glowing, and the crystal clear blue water looked even more pretty. We immediately knew this view was worth waking up early and driving in the dark.

But first, let’s back up. 😊👇

I first met Ashlee & Tyler when he proposed in Austin a few months ago. Ashlee’s reaction was so sweet, and in our brief photo session afterward, I fell in love with these two. They’re incredibly comfortable with each other and were willing to try anything I asked of them.

I’m so dang excited to be their wedding photographer now! One of the first steps was planning their engagement photos.

Tyler grew up near Seattle, and the mountains have always held a special place in his heart. They told me about a trip to Washington they had planned and asked if I could join them for a day.

I LOVE the Pacific Northwest, and I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough! With only a couple weeks to plan, we got started brainstorming location ideas. Ashlee’s criteria included water, so it was an easy choice to take their photos at Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park.

I’ve been to Washington several times, and this summer, Matt & I actually stayed at Lake Crescent Lodge for a night. On that trip, I woke up early to walk the lake, and I knew this stunning and peaceful landscape would be the perfect place for their session.

But adding Ashlee & Tyler to the mix only made this view even more beautiful! We had the best time hanging out at the docks, exploring a rainforest trail, and hiking to a waterfall.

Getting to travel for destination engagement sessions gives me such a burst of creativity and inspiration. I could do this every weekend. So… who’s next? 😜
